TIFTON—Vickie Wilson, Administrative Associate for the Dean of Students, has been selected as the 2022 recipient of the Roy Jackson, Sr., Award for Staff Excellence at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
In his presentation of the award, ABAC Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Jerry Baker said, “With over 25 years of service to the college, there are few who have not had the pleasure of meeting and working with her.
“Not only has she served in several offices in the past 25 years, but she has also been an active member of ABAC Staff Council and has held positions on the Staff Council Board. She truly exceeds every criterion of this award.”
One ABAC professor said, “She is one of the first people to greet you upon opening the door to the Student Affairs Office, and there could not be a better person for this job. She has a calm yet discerning manner and warm smile that is exactly what is needed in her position. Students, faculty, and staff alike love her.”
Another faculty member said, “She knows the inner workings of her office backwards and forwards, and there has never been a question I have asked her that she didn’t either know the answer to or know where to direct me to find the answer.
“Her level of efficiency and attention to detail is stellar. I have relied upon her expertise so many times, and she is always so kind and helpful to me.”
A staff member wrote, “She goes beyond her job duties in making sure that her coworkers and the general public know that someone cares.”
A member of upper administration noted, “When entering the office, her bright smile and warm greeting make faculty, staff, and students feel welcome. Her attention to detail and immediate action to your request make you feel special. She can juggle many tasks, and her work ethic is second to none. A student entering the office when she is in the middle of a project isn’t seen by her as an ‘interruption of her day,’ but as a ‘reason for her day.’”
Another staff member wrote, “Through the Dean of Students Office, she supports many of the offices on campus, as well as being a fierce advocate for the students. She really serves as an inspiration for a lot of people on this campus.”
The award is named for Jackson, a longtime supporter of ABAC.
