ABAC will hold commencement exercises on Thursday, May 8th, for spring graduates on the Tifton Campus.
The ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Gressette Gym. Doors will be open one hour prior to the ceremony. Clearly marked accessible seating is available for those may need it.
- The 10 a.m. ceremony will include graduates from the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
- The 3 p.m. ceremony will include graduates from the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Stafford School of Business.
Check-in for graduates begins one hour before the ceremony in Howard Auditorium.
Commencement exercises will be livestreamed at watch.abac.edu and the ABAC Facebook page.
Ceremony

The ceremony will include: Processional, Solo National Anthem, Opening remarks by President, Speaker, Presentation of candidates by Provost, Conferring of degrees, Calling of names with stage presence and photo, Announcement of Alumni Awards, where appropriate, and Recessional.
- Tickets
- Each graduate will receive tickets for guests. The number of tickets per graduate is sent in an email to all graduates.
- Graduates can begin picking up their tickets in The Stallion Shop beginning with Cap and Gown Day (Grad Fest).
- ABAC does not sell tickets for graduation. Each student receives an allotted number of tickets who can then distribute to family and friends.
- Parking
- Parking will be accessible throughout the day for graduation attendees, with drop-off options available at the doors for convenience. Additionally, golf carts will be provided for those requiring extra assistance.
- Pinning Ceremonies Following Commencement
- Nursing pinning ceremony will begin at 12 PM in Gressette Gym.
- Agricultural Education pinning ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. in Gressette Gym.
- Academic Attire (Regalia)
- Caps and gowns are required, and only academic attire approved for the ceremony may be worn.
- Regalia includes a black cap and gown and a gold tassel.
- Regalia can be purchased from The Stallion Shop, on the first floor of the Carlton Center, until graduation day.
- Cap Decorating
- Cap decorating is not prohibited. Decorating cannot extend beyond the border or the cap of fall below the perimeter.
- Cap decorations motivated by animosity against a person or group because of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, national origin, or which infringe on the rights and freedoms of others will not be allowed.
- Additionally, decorations may not include the following:
- Profanity
- Symbols for or references to alcohol or controlled substances
- Tassels
- Tassels should be worn on the right side of the cap hanging over the right eye. At the ceremony, the Provost will ask you to move your tassel to the left side of the cap during the ceremony.
- Cap & Gown Day and Grad Fest
- Cap & Gown day and Grad Fest will be on Tuesday, March 25, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Carlton 1st Floor.
- Students receive a 10% discount on Academic Regalia.
- Graduates can begin picking up their graduation tickets.
- Additional details are emailed to all graduates.
Graduation Fest and the Alumni Association
Grad Fest will take place Tuesday, March 25 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the First Floor Lobby of Carlton.

Diplomas and Transcripts
You do not receive your diploma at commencement.Diplomas will be mailed approximately four to six weeks after the ceremony to your mailing address as noted in Banner. To ensure your diploma is directed to the correct address, make sure this address is correct in Banner Web. If you have any outstanding obligations to the college, these obligations and holds MUST be cleared before your diploma and/or transcript is mailed. You may check your account for holds and obligations by:
- Visit https://my.abac.edu/
- Provide your login credentials
- Navigate and click on Banner Student Landing Page
- Click on Personal Information
If you need proof of graduation before your diploma is available, please request an official transcript. When submitting your request, select the “Hold for Degree” option.
Participation in commencement does not denote official certification of a degree or certificate. Official certification is only made when all curriculum requirements have been satisfactorily addressed and recorded in the Registrar’s Office.
If you are completing graduation requirements at another institution – to participate in ABAC’s graduation ceremony, the ABAC Registrar’s Office must receive the graduation application one week prior to the graduation ceremony. You must also have the other institution send an official copy of the transcript to ABAC at registrar@abac.edu by the following dates: January 15 for fall, May 30 for spring, and August 15 for summer.
Stoles and Cords
ABAC Alumni Association members are designated by their green and gold braided cord and can be purchased through the Alumni Association.
ABAC Ambassadors are designated by their green stoles.
The ABAC Honors Program graduates are designated by a gold medallion with a green and gold ribbon.
Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) members can be recognized by their green and red cords.
CAMP (College Assistance Migrant Program) students are designated by the green and gold stoles.
The honor graduates are recognized by a green, gold, and white braided double cord. These are given out during check-in before the ceremony.
Phi Kappa Phi members can be recognized by a medallion on a royal blue ribbon as well as a pin on their graduation robe that features the Phi Kappa Phi key.
Phi Theta Kappa membership is designated by a gold stole decorated with the three Greek letters.
Veterans are designated by their red United States Veteran stoles displaying the stars and stripes.
