BAINBRIDGE – The Carter Arts and Lecture Series at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Bainbridge (ABAC) is proud to present an evening with poet Cody Smith on Tuesday, October 29 at 7 p.m.
The event, which is part of the annual ABAC Arts and Culture season, will take place at the Charles H. Kirbo Center on the Bainbridge Campus. The Carter Arts & Lecture Series is committed to enhancing the educational experience by bringing compelling speakers, distinguished authors, and performing arts to the ABAC Bainbridge campus. These events are designed to bring the campus and wider public together to educate, inspire and spark imagination.
Smith, poet and author of “Gulf: Poems,” will read from his recently published works. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase signed copies of his latest book, “River Hymnal,” which is set to be released in early 2025.
Born and raised in Louisiana, Smith’s diverse experiences have shaped his unique perspective on life and literature. Having lived and written in various locations, including Spokane, Washington, and Tallahassee, Florida, he currently resides in Central Florida, where he works as an educator and continues to pursue his passion for poetry.
Smith’s work has earned him accolades such as the Mississippi Review Prize and the River Styx International Poetry Prize. His poems have been featured in publications including Poetry, Prairie Schooner, and The Gettysburg Review.
