TIFTON—From Tonka trucks to a bigger than life dollhouse to cane syrup made right on the premises, the Country Store at the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Georgia Museum of Agriculture stocks Christmas gifts for boys and girls of all ages.
As a special added attraction, the Country Store will have a Holiday Open House on Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at its location just off Interstate 75 at 1392 Whiddon Mill Road in Tifton.
Tonia Carpenter, Manager of ABAC’s Stores and Shops, said hot chocolate and a coffee bar will add to the ambience at Saturday’s Open House.
“We will offer free gift wrapping with purchases of $25 or more,” Carpenter said. “We’ll also take 15 percent off your total with the purchase of a toy for Toys for Tots.”
Carpenter said it’s a perfect place for parents to allow their children to fill out a wish list and let the Country Store employees do the shopping and gift wrapping.
A casual glance around the store lights up the eyes with a rolling tool set for youngsters, dolls of all shapes and sizes, toy dinosaurs, Star Wars pillow pets, and Christmas trees loaded with candy and decorations.
Nothings says Christmas like a John Deere tractor under the tree, or an 8-in-1 pocket tool kit. Don’t forget about the Batman and Superman action figures and the toy gun-and-holsters for little cowboys and cowgirls.
For the holiday foodies, country ham and farmhouse pickles jump off the shelves along with cornbread mix, cobbler mix, raw cane sugar, and the famous Museum cane syrup. A bottle of Spirits of Gum turpentine cures a lot of ills, and there’s nothing like the Old School peppermint sticks.
The Country Store will be open on Nov. 25 and Nov. 26 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and then on those same hours Monday through Saturday through Dec. 22.
