ABAC Bainbridge agriculture program receives support from First National Bank
Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College received a gift from First National Bank of Bainbridge. The donation, which supports ABAC Bainbridge's agricultural program, demonstrates a shared commitment to preparing the next generation of agricultural professionals.
The gift was commemorated July 24 by Bert Hines, market president of First National Bank of Bainbridge; Brad Barber, president and CEO of First National Bank of Bainbridge; Martin Bius, coordinator of the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources at ABAC Bainbridge; and ABAC President Dr. Tracy Brundage.
The $2,500 donation will enhance hands-on learning opportunities for students in the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree at ABAC Bainbridge. The program allows students in Southwest Georgia to earn a four-year agriculture degree close to home while preparing for careers in one of the region's most important industries.
ABAC President Dr. Tracy Brundage said partnerships with local businesses are essential to providing students with meaningful educational experiences and strengthening the agricultural workforce.
“Our local partners play a vital role in the success of ABAC and our students,” Brundage said. “When businesses invest in our programs, they are investing in the future workforce and strengthening the communities we serve. We are grateful to First National Bank of Bainbridge for its generous support of our agriculture program and for helping us continue to provide students with the hands-on education and opportunities that prepare them for successful careers.”
Martin Bius, coordinator of the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources at ABAC Bainbridge, said the gift will directly benefit students through experiential learning.
“Agricultural Education and Agricultural Studies students in Bainbridge will be able to obtain hands-on learning in and around Decatur County to develop a well-rounded understanding of agriculture components in Southwest Georgia, North Florida and East Alabama,” Bius said.
The Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree at ABAC Bainbridge was created to increase access to agricultural education for students across the region while helping meet the workforce needs of one of Southwest Georgia's largest industries. The partnership with First National Bank of Bainbridge reflects a shared investment in educational opportunities, economic development and the future of agriculture.
