ABAC now offers Writing and Communication degree fully online
Students can now earn a Bachelor of Science in Writing and Communication from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College completely online, expanding access to a degree designed to prepare graduates for success in a wide range of communication-focused careers.
The fully online program provides the same curriculum and faculty expertise as the on-campus degree while offering the flexibility needed by working professionals, transfer students and others seeking to complete their education from anywhere.
Students in the Writing and Communication program begin with the same strong general education core as all ABAC students, building a foundation alongside classmates from every academic discipline. As they progress through the major, students develop critical and creative problem-solving skills while gaining practical experience through internships and hands-on learning opportunities.
“The launch of our fully online Writing and Communication degree opens the door for more students to earn a versatile, career-focused education,” Dr. Matthew Anderson, dean of ABAC's School of Social Sciences, Education and Arts, said. “We are excited to expand access to a program that prepares graduates so well for today's workforce. Strong communication skills are valuable in every industry, and this degree equips students with the knowledge, experience and confidence to succeed.”
Students also have access to extensive experiential learning opportunities through ABAC's student media organizations, including the award-winning student newspaper, The Stallion; student television broadcast, Stallion TV; literary magazines, Pegasus and Adroit; student-run publishing operation, Horseman Press; and campus radio station, WPLH.
Graduates are prepared for careers in journalism, public relations, publishing, broadcasting, digital media, and technical communication, among many other fields. Career opportunities include print, film and video editing, social media management, public relations, publishing, writing and authorship, reporting, news analysis, technical writing, content creation, and radio and television broadcasting. The degree also provides a strong foundation for graduate studies in journalism, law, creative communication, and related disciplines.
“Offering this program online reflects ABAC's commitment to meeting students where they are and providing high-quality educational opportunities in multiple formats,” Dr. Tracy Brundage, ABAC president, said. “This is another example of how ABAC is engaging students while ensuring they have access to the academic programs and experiences that prepare them for meaningful careers.”
