ABAC Health Center

Our mission is to help students develop and maintain the good health and well-being necessary for success in college.

Location: ABAC’s Health Center is located in the Health Sciences building at the rear of the building on the first floor. 

Who can be seen? Students will need to be enrolled in the current semester and can be living on campus or be a commuter. 

Appointments: Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are highly advisable. 

Be sure to take your insurance information to your visit. You will be responsible for all charges, co-pays, or deductible amounts that result from your visit to an emergency room or urgent care facility.

Hours of Operation: 

Monday – Thursday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm 

Friday: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm 

Closed daily 12:00 – 1:00 pm for lunch 

Health Center Treats: 

Acute/episodic issues: 

  • Colds/flu; sore throats; seasonal allergies; upper respiratory infections; nausea/vomiting/diarrhea 
  • Ear and eye infections; urinary tract infections; rashes/minor skin conditions; minor sports injuries (sprains/strains) 
  • Sexually transmitted infections and other common acute illnesses 

Other services provided: 

  • Contraception 
  • Birth Control Pills 
  • Condoms 
  • Flu Vaccination 
  • Tdap Vaccinations 
  • Hepatitis B Vaccinations 

Health Center Does Not Treat: 

  • Chronic Conditions 
  • Diabetes 
  • Hypertension 
  • ADHD medications 
  • Seizure meds or any chronic condition medication refills 
  • Chronic Care Injections 
  • Allergy shots – Xolair, etc. 
  • Hormonal shots, testosterone, estrogen, etc. 
  • Humira, etc. 
  • Travel Immunizations 

We will gladly make a referral to a local physician, clinic or health department to meet these needs. 

Service Provided / Fee Structure

  • Visit is covered by Student Health Fee (no charge from provider for service)
  • Visit as often as needed as long as the patient is a student for that semester
  • Low Cost Lab Testing - Tests done in house: Strep; Flu; COVID; Mono; Urinalysis; Urine Pregnancy; Fingerstick Blood Sugar, etc.; Quest Laboratories (labs sent out): Blood Draw; Cultures; STI's; Titers
  • Low Cost Medications - May pay at completion of service by cash or card; May apply to Stallions Account
  • Charges may apply to cover costs of some medical supplies, lab tests, and medications
  • Insurance accepted but not required
  • No Balance Billing

Immunizations

To attend classes at ABAC per the USG Board of Regents and ABAC policy, all students must meet the established immunization requirements.  Additional immunizations are highly recommended by the CDC.  More information is available on the CDC website.   Your immunization report can be returned in multiple ways.

Options

  • Obtain documentation of your immunization history from your physician’s office or your county health department. Take a clear picture with your cell phone and email it to healthcenter@abac.edu.

The Counseling Center provides personal counseling, group counseling, prevention and outreach, consultation, and crisis response across the ABAC Tifton and Bainbridge locations.
