New ABAC, SRTC partnerships to benefit transfer students
Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College signed an agreement Tuesday with Southern Regional Technical College to expedite enrollment between the two institutions.
SRTC students transferring into ABAC’s School of Arts and Sciences can obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, History & Government, Rural Community Development, and Writing & Communication. Those seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice will transfer into ABAC’s online program, which has general, law enforcement, and social justice tracks. Students may also attain a Bachelor of Science in General Business from the Stafford School of Business.
ABAC President Tracy Brundage signed the articulation agreements alongside SRTC President Jim Glass and other members of the institutions’ leadership teams.
“I think it’s evident that our leadership from our School of Arts and Sciences and our Stafford School of Business is excited about this partnership with Southern Regional Technical College,” said Brundage. “I can speak for everyone else at ABAC that we echo that excitement because we know that these Memorandums of Understanding will benefit our students. We are also confident that this collaboration between our institutions will benefit our region in the future.”
"We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with ABAC through these transfer agreements,” said Glass. “This collaboration creates a seamless pathway for SRTC students to pursue bachelor's degrees in South Georgia. By aligning our curriculum with ABAC's programs, we're removing barriers and helping our graduates achieve their educational and professional goals more efficiently while meeting our region's workforce needs."
“These agreements are invaluable to SRTC students,” said Dr. Matthew Anderson, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. “Students will be able to see program-to-program transfer maps showing which of their classes at SRTC satisfy which ABAC degree requirements, so they can see exactly how their courses will transfer, and we are excited to welcome them into the School of Arts and Sciences."
"We are excited to partner with Southern Regional Technical College to offer our students expanded opportunities for academic and professional advancement," said Dr. Franzelle Mathis-Pertilla, Interim Dean of the Stafford School of Business. "We are committed to fostering a learning environment that encourages innovation, critical thinking, and a global perspective. This agreement is a testament to the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in shaping the business leaders of tomorrow."
SRTC students who wish to seek admission into any ABAC degree program must meet the standard admission requirements set forth by ABAC in accordance with applicable University System of Georgia policies. After completing their coursework, SRTC students must complete a minimum of 30 semester hours toward their bachelor’s degree at ABAC, including at least 21 semester hours of upper-division coursework in their major field and at least 39 semester hours of upper-division coursework overall. These agreements are in place for five years.
