ABAC Homecoming, rodeo set for April 4-5

Saddle up, alumni: the 2025 Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Homecoming is kicking off Friday, April 4 through Saturday, April 5 in the spirit of the Wild West.

“Our alumni are some of the most accomplished people in the Southeast, and it is always great to reunite with them on campus,” said Lynda Fisher, Director of Alumni and Special Events. “We have many activities for the entire family and hope the community will join us as well.”

The annual Gee Haw Whoa Back Rodeo is scheduled for April 4 and 5 as part of the Homecoming festivities. The Professional Cowboy Association-sanctioned rodeo will be held at the ABAC Arena beginning at 7 p.m. each evening, with gates opening at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for ages 18 and over, $10 for ages 6-17 and free for ages 5 and under. Current students with an ABAC ID get in free on Friday night, but they must use a designated promo code to register online. Rodeo tickets will be sold at the gate on the two days of the event as well as in advance at www.abac.edu/rodeo. Separate tickets must be purchased for each night.

Besides the crowd favorite of bull riding, other events include bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, breakaway roping, barrel racing and tie down roping. The rodeo will also feature some audience participation events and family-friendly activities.

This year’s Homecoming events also include include the Alumni Cookout, Alumni Awards Luncheon, Golden Alumni Reunion, Stafford School of Business Reunion, ABAC Ambassadors Reunion, Remembrance Service, and a plant sale.

Ten of ABAC’s most accomplished alumni will be honored at the Alumni Awards Luncheon on Friday, April 4 at 12:30 p.m. in Gressette Gymnasium.

On Saturday, April 5, a Remembrance Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the ABAC Chapel, remembering students and alumni who have passed away, and honoring those currently serving in our military. An Alumni Cookout will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Lakeside Lawn. Cookout tickets are $15 and attendees can go online and register or purchase tickets at the event.

Several alumni groups will be holding reunions during Homecoming. On Friday, April 4 the Stafford School of Business will hold a reuntion in Lewis Hall from 4-6 p.m. On Saturday, April 5 the Golden Alumni reunion, with the class of 1975 as the special guests, will be held at 2 p.m. in Tift Hall and the ABAC Ambassadors Reunion is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. at the Alumni House.

Sports fans will be able to watch the Stallions baseball team play at Stallion Field at 1 p.m on Saturday.

The reunions and the baseball games are free and require no ticket to attend.
