Do you have a love for a well-written phrase or a compelling story? Do you want to dig deep into the events shaping our world and share your discoveries with a worldwide audience? With a communications degree, you’ll be ready to share your passion for the pen with audiences large and small.

ABAC’s Bachelor of Science degree in Writing and Communication gives you both the critical thinking skills and writing tools you need to succeed in a wide range of career fields, including journalism and broadcasting, public relations, mass media, publishing, law, and more. As a writer, you will view the world through a critical eye from your own unique perspective with the self-knowledge, cultural understanding, and social  awareness you gained from your studies at ABAC.

What You Will Study:

In the Writing and Communication program, you will receive the same phenomenal general education core that all ABAC students study in their first two years as a Stallion. In these classes, you will learn and work alongside students from every single major on campus, gaining insight from and sharing experiences with a diverse cross-section of the student body.

In addition, you will take classes in:

  • Human and interpersonal communication
  •  Writing, including newswriting, creative writing, or broadcast writing
  •  Courses in literature, foreign language, or digital communication
  • Ethics and issues in mass media
  • Professional writing

And, you will choose from a wide array of electives, including technical writing, film, photojournalism, and more.

In addition to your classroom work, you will gain firsthand real-world experience through internships with businesses, publications, or other organizations that will not only allow you to explore your writing and communication skills in a professional setting, but also allow you to start building the network of contacts and colleagues who will help you succeed after graduation.
