Atkinson organ recital scheduled for Feb. 6
Andrew Atkinson, a multi-talented artist and performer from the Gulf Coast, will be featured in an organ recital on Feb. 6 as part of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College’s First Tuesday concert series.
“We’re very excited to host this wonderful performer here in Tifton,” said Fine Arts Department Head Dr. Jennifer Huang. “The recital will begin with the magnificent sounds of the Elgar Variations, followed by Andrew's own arrangements of famous songs and compositions from across the world. The concert will end with the majestic sounds of Beethoven.”
Atkinson specializes in improvisation, Romantic music, and sacred arrangements. He developed an interest in the organ at a young age and pursued his love of the organ along with his piano studies to fulfill a lifelong dream. He completed his studies with Dr. Robert Holm at the University of South Alabama. Andrew is also an accomplished actor and a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Guild of Organists.
The concert starts at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Tifton. All First Tuesday concerts are free and open to the public with no ticket required.
Other concerts in the First Tuesday series include The ABAC Community Choir on March 5 and The Songs of Broadway on April 2. For more information on the First Tuesday series, visit artsatabac.com/first-tuesdays .
